“The best way for me to begin a painting is to have little or no idea what the finished piece will look like. I am fascinated by texture in my paintings and collages. I scrub, rub, tear, scratch, scrape, drip and dig into my pieces. I use several layers of paint and other materials. For years have I have been collecting papers, old books, and other materials to use in my pieces. I love to experiment. My materials include acrylic, watercolor, crayon, pastel, pencil and wax; as well as found objects. Light and color also play a big role. I delight in this process.”
